Jakarta's Iconic Mall to Get a New Lease of Life as Electric Vehicle Hub
In a move that promises to revolutionize the city's transportation landscape, PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) is set to transform Mall Pluit Junction into Indonesia's first-ever electric vehicle (EV) center. The development, slated for completion by 2025, marks a significant shift in the company's strategy to cater to the growing demand for eco-friendly mobility.
The transformation of Pluit Junction into an EV hub is part of Jakpro's efforts to support the government's ambitious target of having two million EVs on Indonesian roads by 2025. This initiative aims to not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions but also promote sustainable transportation practices among consumers.
According to Dian Takdir, Direktur Teknik dan Pengembangan (Technical and Development Director) at Jakpro, the renovation is a deliberate move to keep pace with the changing times. "This is not a permanent closure, but rather a part of our beautification and conceptual shift to stay relevant in today's fast-paced world," he explained.
When completed, Pluit Junction will be rebranded as EV Indonesia Center, a retail and educational hub that will serve as a driving force for the country's automotive industry. The complex will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including an integrated showroom, charging stations, after-sales service centers, and interactive educational spaces designed to educate children and families about electric vehicles.
The revamped mall is expected to become a beacon of innovation in the retail sector while also serving as a destination for educating the public on sustainable mobility. As Dian Takdir puts it, "Jakpro is committed to introducing a new icon in the Indonesian automotive industry, and we're excited to share this vision with our customers."
