Indonesia's Prabowo Subianto Steps Up Diplomacy for Palestinian Freedom
In a bold move, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has emerged as a key figure in raising the issue of Palestine on the global stage. From initiating the establishment of an outdoor hospital to making strong statements at the United Nations General Assembly, Prabowo's diplomatic efforts have marked a new direction for Indonesia's active role in pursuing Palestinian independence.
As the chairman of Gerindra party, Prabowo has been actively promoting the resolution of the Gaza conflict and supporting Palestine's sovereignty. Even during his tenure as Defense Minister, he continued to attend international forums to advocate for Palestinian freedom.
Prabowo's efforts have yielded concrete results, with Israel and Hamas agreeing to end the war and release hostages through diplomatic channels. At an international forum in Singapore last June, Prabowo reiterated Indonesia's commitment to helping Gaza's people and expressed his willingness to send medical teams, hospitals, and peacekeeping forces if requested by the United Nations.
"Indonesia is ready to immediately operate a hospital at the outdoor field in Gaza with the consent of all parties. We are also prepared to evacuate and treat Palestinian patients who need medical attention at Indonesian hospitals," Prabowo stated during that forum.
At a high-level meeting in Amman, Jordan last month, Prabowo reiterated Indonesia's stance on Palestinian independence as the key solution to ending the conflict in Gaza.
"Although we are willing to support all efforts, the ultimate solution for this issue is a two-state solution. Only with a two-state solution can Palestine and Israel coexist peacefully and safely," Prabowo concluded.
Prabowo's diplomatic efforts have marked an important shift in Indonesia's role in promoting Palestinian freedom, highlighting the country's commitment to the cause of peace and human rights.
