Thirteen Subsidized Train Services Launched in 2025, Here's the List of Routes and Tariffs
The Government has officially launched a subsidized train service program, which aims to provide affordable transportation options for the masses. The program, also known as Public Service Obligation (PSO), is designed to reduce the cost of train tickets while maintaining the safety and comfort of passengers.
This initiative is part of the Indonesian government's efforts to support economic growth and social development. By providing subsidized train services, the government hopes to encourage more people to use public transportation, reducing traffic congestion and pollution in urban areas.
Currently, 13 train routes are available on Pulau Jawa and Sumatra, with ticket prices starting from Rp20 thousand. These subsidized train services include:
Long-Distance Routes:
- Kahuripan - Blitar-Kiaracondong (PP)
- Bengawan - Purwosari-Pasarsenen (PP)

The Indonesian State Railways (KAI) ensures that the subsidized train services meet the minimum standards of service, maintaining safety, comfort, and efficiency during travel.
