India Signals Stricter Red Warning Labels in Setback for Big Food India's Supreme Court has been pressuring the country's food regulator, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), to implement stricter labelling regulations.
The FSSAI had proposed a two phased approach, starting with red coloured hexagonal warning labels on products that exceeded limits in at least two of three categories: added sugar, salt, or saturated fat.
However, health experts have criticized this plan as an "industry friendly loophole" that disregards public health.
