Cartel Sought to Buy Weapons in Exchange for Fentanyl, U. S.
Says The recent indictments against four members of the Jalisco New Generation cartel (CJNG) reveal a disturbing trend: powerful cartels are resorting to increasingly brazen tactics to acquire arms and fuel their wars over territory, profit, and influence.
According to the indictment unsealed by the U. S. Justice Department, CJNG operatives attempted to purchase machineguns, rocket propelled grenade launchers, and mortar launchers in the Czech Republic.
